Hello Shirin..mmm…this is a difficult question, My fiance is from Jordan, so I will ask him over the weekend and try to email you. Amman is rather a big and busy city. We should be going there in the Autumn to see his mom and dad..I am really looking forward to it. Let me ask him and see x x x x x

It depends on if you know the persons entire name. Usually in Jordan the Persons name will be their first name the second name is the fathers the third is the grandfather and then the family name is last. This is usually used because there are so many people with the same first names and last names but the fathers and grandfathers name will help people know what family they belong to. So, if you were able to find someone in Amman who knows a lot of people, you may be able to track down the family and then identify the branch by the grandfather and fathers name. My family last name here has more then 18,000 people who are related….even my husband has people who have the same last name as him and same fathers name but not the same grandfather this is how they do not confuse him with say a second or third cousin.
