Oh my beloved country, it's jordan not jordon, it's the summer season, u should visit Ajlun weather there will be ok, visit Om Kais also, Gulf of Aqaba, petra and Rum valley will be hot but u should not miss them.
Restaurants in amman: i recommend reem al bawadi.
People n jordan r friendly, open minded. you'll love it.
-ve point that since fuel is so expensive (> 1$/L) makes everything expensive.

There is ALOT and I repeat ALOT of walking involved. To be honest I personally wouldnt pick these 2 destinations for go with little kids...
Aqaba is a nice vacation spot for families. The kids can play with the water. The weather is hot in Aqaba most all year round there. The dead sea is another nice place for families to go.
Petra is beautiful, but to me its a place for older kids and adults.
Jerash is another beautiful place , but again there is so much walking involved, its a mini town in itself.
Unless it has changed there wasnt anywhere to have lunch there, so if you do decide to go pack a lunch, plenty of water, and diapers with you.
