I am in junior high and I want to know what Amman is like and how they treat U.S. citizens. Would I be happy there. My stepdad is from there…..

Well if your family think that it is a good move. I would just have faith that things are going to be ok. I am sure that you will be fine.. Just try to enjoy the experience of a new place as much as you can..

I have a friend who lives there. I guess it all depends on your background and interests. It is quite lovely and has nice weather, but it will be quite a culture shock if you are not a Muslim and are unfamiliar with Arab culture. I would suggest you try asking this question on the Jordan forum of YA. I lived in Egypt for four years and found it quite lonely, despite being a Muslim. It is a different world with different interests and mannerisms. I would suggest you try finding some online contacts over there to get a better feel for it. Also, I think it would be much easier for you since you’ll be in school. If you go to an English school, which I imagine you will, you’ll find that the other kids will find you most interesting and want to be your best buddy.
