You should contact the Shari'a court in Amman and inquire as to the requirements for you to marry there. It definitly requires more than passports. You both will have to show proof that you are free to marry...if you have been married before, you will need proof of the dissolution of that marriage through either judgement of divorce or death certificate, both of which will have to be translated into Arabic and authenticated..you may both also need your birth certificates, also translated into Arabic and authenticated. It's best you check with the court or just go to a masjid and ask the Imam to make sure you have all of the correct documentation. Good Luck! I do not believe the US embassy will be able to peform a marriage. You may be able to get some kind of Marriage License though.
