Hi Kevin,

Here is a map of the area for you. I would recommend driving south from Jerusalem towards Petra within Israel, and entering Jordan through Israel proper. Once you are in Jordan, you can drive up to Amman.

If you reduce the size of the map on the top right hand side, you will see directions from Petra to Amman.

If you are renting a car, you can not take it from Israel to Jordan. Only the owner of the car can take it from Israel into Jordan.

If you are renting a car in Israel, you have to leave it at the border, cross into Jordan, and then rent a car in Jordan.
