As others said, English is easier to learn than Arabic, and I bet he has basic knowledge of the language which makes it even easier. I wouldn't commit to moving there until after spending few years with the guy and getting to know his past and his family. You could always visit and check it out for yourself. Like all major cities, Amman has its very good neighborhoods and its bad neighborhoods. I keep him in English because it give me one up on him but what ever the language you will always have mis-communications and will need a sense of humor and a lot of patience.
