I agree there are NO cheap tickets now with the economy the way it is so I would try biding on a ticket with priceline.com

try to book a month or more before the flight date, and make it in the winter would be cheaper

The best time for a cheap rate is probably a month before Hajj. My hubby got a good deal last year, about $900 for that time. During Hajj, it is almost double that. The winter months are the cheapest with advance purchase, just stay away from the period of Hajj. Good Luck!
